Oakley on Notice?

We received an interesting e-mail from a loyal reader and fellow burger enthusiast. On a trip to the top-rated Oakley Pub & Grill, he noted a stale bun, poor service, and a mediocre burger. We trust this source, so we ask you to let us know about your recent experiences at the Oakley Pub by commenting on this post.

FYI: The reader is involved the the Burger Witness Protection Program.

A note from a reader told us that he had an inedible burger there two months ago.

At the time of our original revenue, the Oakley owner also owner the 915 (Ft. Thomas) and Zola's (Covington). Since then, that owner sold each business.

I (Freddie) have been to both Zola's and 915 in recent months, and saw the same high quality. What some of our readers have experienced at Oakley may be due to decisions made by its new ownership.

We took a group of 4 to the Oakley Tavern when we saw the high score. What a disappointment!!!
The buns were hard (stale), the burgers were all well done/almost burnt despite asking for medium rare to medium, two orders forgot the cheese, the waitress was surly and not really interested in waiting on us (as in I wish you were not here) and the whole experience was a downer. No way is this place even remotely your top score. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Would not recommend this place.

This is very, very sad. I haven't been to the OakTav in a couple of years, but it used to be the place for a good burger. Always medium rare, always tasty. Great fries, too.

What a bummer.

Thank you Michelle ... and one of us will be checking it out in the next couple of days. If everything checks out, they'll be off the Honor Roll.

We posted this on the Oakley review.

Since posting this review, the Oakley Pub and Grill changed owners. We have received several concerns about the current burgers, which prompted one of the Burger Guys to visit. He noted that the burger had undergone significant enough changes that it should be removed from the Burger Honor Roll and be re-evaluated by the team. This review is not meant to endorse or criticize current ownership, but to only inform readers of the situation.
